Are bass even real?
Today started off as most of my trips do, with a dream, a dream to catch a bass. I thought I’d stick to a spot I’ve been spending a lot of time at recently in the hope that a change of conditions will produce some fish, its somewhere I’ve heard there are fish so for lack of a better spot I’ve been sticking with it.
I fished from around when the tide started coming in until an hour before high tide when I decided to call it quits. I’m losing hope!! I’ve been fishing for bass so many times recently (I love it) but I’ve failed to catch. I haven’t really seen any fish either, today I maybe saw two mullet – could have been seeing things – so I don’t really blame the bass for not being about. There hasn’t been much sign of bait around, I saw a small flatfish and a couple birds diving in the distance. There were a lot of serious looking jellyfish about though which I’m taking as a good sign.

Catching a bass before I move back down South next Friday is not looking too likely!
Managed to snap my Airflo sniper 8wt on some seaweed so its back to the trusty sportfish saltwater 8wt.
Conditions:
- Wind very manageable at ~11kmh coming slightly towards the shore from the right
- Water clarity decent in some places but a lot of silt got washed in as the tide rose
Flies:
I tied up a couple 1/0 ep baitfish in chartreuse and minnow, I fished the one with the weed guard as there’s loads of floating seaweed about. Looked great in the water.
